Nov. 7 - Nealy's Baptism
Sorry for the late update today. We got Nealy fed and asleep then finally finished dinner a little after midnight...
A quick bite for breakfast before taking off for Guangzhou. Nealy really enjoys congee -- a kind of sweet, watered-down cream of rice. This congee has a little pork and egg flavor, at least the part that made it into her mouth.
On the way to the airport, we were given Nealy's passport! Just another small step of many in getting her to the US. When we fly out of Guangzhou to LA next Friday, she travels under her birth name (Bo Jia Ye) and under a Chinese passport, but because of what we'll be doing over the next week here in Guangzhou, when the airplane touches US soil in LA, Nealy becomes a US citizen.

Had a little wait at the airport. This is one of the other adopting families in our group, Chris and Jackie with their new daughter Brianna...
and another family in our group, Geoff and Debbie with their son Eli and new daughter Zoe Grace.

Then finally arriving at the hotel in Guangzhou at almost 10:00. This hotel is NICE! So late and so hungry we decided to order room service. Jane ordered a jumbo hot dog and John ordered a burger... the hot dog was supposed to have relish and mustard only, but had something way too close to mayonnaise, so John had the hot dog and Jane had the burger... All this food with 2 Cokes... 266 RMB (about $40), tip included! That's Nealy asleep in the background. She had a long day, got quite fussy for a while on the airplane, but John got her to fall asleep in his arms, carrying her up and down the aisle and standing the the galley next to the cargo doors. The flight attendants on China Eastern were great and didn't have any problem with it. Within a few blocks of the hotel are 2 Starbucks, 2 Subways, a Pizza Hut, a McDonalds and 2 Seven-Elevens. We'll probably be hitting the Starbucks for a few Cafe Mocha Lattes tomorrow.
